What the first month actually decides
Almost everything you will spend the next decade managing gets decided in the first month, and mostly by accident. A puppy that is carried upstairs learns to be carried. A kitten played with using bare hands learns that hands are prey. None of this is training in the formal sense, it is repetition, and it starts on day one whether you have a plan or not.
So the useful question is not when do we begin training but what is this animal practising right now. Feed in the same place at the same times. Decide before it arrives which rooms and which furniture are allowed, and do not soften that in week two. Get the vaccination schedule from your vet at the first visit rather than from the internet. And note the one deadline on this list you cannot renegotiate later: the socialisation window for a puppy closes at around sixteen weeks.
