How we write, review and correct what you read on BreedQuest.
Who makes BreedQuest
BreedQuest makes the breed profiles, care guides, tools and stories you see here. Our content is drafted with AI writing tools and then checked and edited by people before it goes live. We spell out exactly how, and where the lines are, on our AI transparency page.
How we write
- Useful before anything else. We write for the owner standing in the kitchen at 11pm, not for a search engine: short sentences, real numbers, no filler.
- Grounded in reputable sources. Care, nutrition and behaviour guidance follows widely accepted veterinary and welfare bodies — the AVMA, WSAVA, and the national kennel and cat federations among them. Where the experts genuinely disagree, we say so instead of pretending there is one answer.
- We don't invent numbers. When we can't stand behind a specific figure — a breed's exact price, say — we explain what drives the cost instead of making a number up, and we tell you it's an estimate.
Veterinary review of health content
Our health and symptom guides carry a heavier duty of care, so they get an extra step: review by Venkat Kolli, MSc (Veterinary Sciences). A guide shows a "Medically reviewed by" line only once that review has actually happened; until then it reads "veterinary review: pending", and a reviewed date sits beside the reviewer's name so you can see how current it is.
This is not veterinary advice. Our guides help you understand what you are seeing and when it is time to call a professional. They do not diagnose, and they never replace a hands-on exam. If your pet is unwell, contact your vet.
Corrections
If something is wrong, out of date, or unclear, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it. We correct errors in place, and for anything material on a health page we note when it was updated.
Independence
BreedQuest is free, funded by respectful advertising and partnerships — never by selling your pet's data. Advertising and affiliate relationships never decide what our guides recommend. Any affiliate or sponsored link is labelled as one.
