Common questions

How long is a cat pregnant?

A cat is pregnant for about 65 days on average, normally between 63 and 67. Counting from the mating day is an estimate — the exact conception day can vary.

When can the pregnancy be confirmed?

An ultrasound can confirm it from around day 21–25, and an X-ray can count the babies from about day 45, once their skeletons show. Your vet is the reliable source.

When should I call the vet?

Book a check early to confirm and plan. Call sooner if there's a discharge, distress or loss of appetite — and if the due window passes with no birth, or labour stalls, treat it as urgent.

Is this a substitute for the vet?

No — it's a planning aid, not a diagnosis. Pregnancy and birth should always be followed by a vet.
