Name generator questions
Is this list definitive?
No — it's a spark, not a shortlist you're stuck with. Filter by what matters, shuffle a few times, then say the name out loud before you commit.
How does the breed filter work?
Picking a breed sets the size filter to that breed's typical adult size — a name that suits a small breed can look odd on a much bigger one. It doesn't change which names show up beyond that; style and gender still decide those.
What if I don't know the breed?
Leave the breed filter on “Any” and set Size to whatever fits — your best guess for a puppy or kitten, or the size you already know. Most names here work just as well on a mix as on a purebred.
Any tips for picking a name?
Short names with a clear, hard consonant (a crisp “k”, “t” or “s” sound) tend to cut through better than long, soft ones — worth knowing, since cats recognise their name but respond to it far less predictably than dogs do.
