Privacy

The short version

• Using BreedQuest for free, you have no account and your data never leaves your phone. We can't see it, because we don't have it.
• Only if you subscribe to BreedQuest+ and choose to sign in do your pets sync to our servers so you can use them across devices and on breedquest.com.
• We don't sell your personal data. You can export or delete your data at any time.

What we collect, and when

Free plan — local only. On the free plan there is no account and no server involved. Your pets, photos, records, tasks, and collection live only in the app on your device. We do not receive, store, or have access to that data. Photos you scan are processed on your device to identify the breed; scan images are not uploaded.

BreedQuest+ — only if you sign in to sync. If you subscribe and sign in, we create an account and sync your data so it's available on your other devices and the web. In that case we process:

• Account identity. When you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, the provider gives us a stable user identifier and, if you allow it, your email address. We use these only to create and secure your account. We never receive your Apple or Google password.
• Your pet data. The information you put in the app — pet names, breeds, photos, weight, reminders and tasks, health records, contacts, feeding and expense logs — is synced to and stored on our infrastructure so it can reach your other devices.
• Uploaded files. Photos and documents you attach are stored so you can see them everywhere you're signed in.
• Basic technical data. Standard request logs (e.g., timestamps, error diagnostics) needed to operate and secure the service.

Advertising (free plan). The free app may show ads and affiliate links to keep it free. Any advertising partners we use will be named here, with links to their own privacy practices, before launch. We do not use your synced pet data to target ads. Review: finalize this section with the actual ad and affiliate partners.

How we use your data

• Provide the app and, for subscribers, sync across your devices and the web.
• Keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
• Diagnose and fix problems.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your pet records for advertising.

Where your data is stored, and security

Subscriber data is stored on Cloudflare (Workers, D1, and R2) as our infrastructure provider. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, isolated per user, and access is gated by a signed session token. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Who we share data with

• Infrastructure: Cloudflare (hosting, database, file storage).
• Sign-in providers: Apple and Google, only to authenticate you.
• Legal: if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

We don't sell personal data or share it with data brokers.

Your choices and rights

• Export or delete anytime. You can export or delete any pet, and delete your account and all synced data. Deleting removes it from our servers.
• Stay local. Don't subscribe or sign in, and nothing is ever sent to us.
• Access, correction, objection. Depending on where you live (e.g., EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. Contact [email protected] to exercise these.

Data retention

We keep synced data while your account is active. When you delete data or your account, we remove it from active systems promptly and from backups on our normal backup cycle.

Children

BreedQuest is intended for a general audience of pet owners and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). We don't knowingly collect data from children.

International transfers

Cloudflare operates globally; your data may be processed in countries other than your own, with appropriate safeguards where required by law.

Changes

We'll update this policy as the app evolves and note the "last updated" date. For material changes we'll provide notice in the app.
