The Xolo evolved alongside people in Mesoamerica for millennia as watchdog, healer and spiritual guardian, and it remains a thoughtful, observant companion — devoted to its household, aloof with strangers, and calmer than most breeds once mature. Puppies, fair warning, are another matter entirely.

Are Xoloitzcuintlis hypoallergenic?
No dog is fully hypoallergenic — allergens live in skin and saliva, not just fur. That said, many allergy sufferers do find hairless Xolos easier to live with.
Do Xolos need sunscreen?
Yes — exposed skin can burn, especially on lighter-toned dogs. Dog-safe sunscreen or shade in strong sun is part of responsible ownership.
